My Head Tucks Easily Below While My Arms Flail Distractingly (Scared)
I take important events in my life and create artworks from each of the individual emotions from one specific instant of that event. This work is part of the series "The Shovel". A book describing the event, artistic process, and pictures of all of the works in the series is included.
The techniques used in this painting are unique. I paint with pigmented resin, layering on the color giving the work an extraodinary depth. I embed wire in the resin to create 3-dimentional lines and etch and fill the resin to create complex patterns.
These paintings are created on wood panels that I make, often using found materials, reclaimed wood, and doors. The process of pigmenting, layering, etching, grinding, dripping and torching the resin creates the complex and essential interacting colors and textures that help represent the complex and isolated emotions.
