Resin, Pigments, and Multimedia on Wood Panel
22" x 22" x 1.75" (HWD)
Icon III (The worst crime is faking it)
These paintings are created using a new technique that I modified from the work of one of my artistic heroes, Jack Whitten. I create tesserae (or tiles) by pigmenting resin, creating sheets of medium, and cutting them into individual pieces. These are then used to mosaic the body of the painting onto wood panels. I then paint, etch, fill, and add other materials to complete the work. This tiling and layered painting process creates extraordinary depth, movement, and interest in the works.
